Local election votes have been counted


The Village Hall was lively last night – packed out with voters taking in a quick drink after casting their votes.

The votes were counted today and on a 31% turnout it was a case of “no change” with the Appleton Ward of Warrington Borough Council being held by the Liberal Democrats with 1,660 votes to the Conservatives 1,067 votes.  Labour polled 453 votes.

Elsehwere, Stockton Heath was gained by Labour whilst the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives held Grappenhall & Thelwall Ward and Lymm Ward respectively.

Overall the Warrington Borough Council total stands at Labour 41 seats (+7), LibDems 12 seats (-5) and Conservatives 4 seats (-2).
