The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is proposing to develop land at Appleton Cross for residential purposes – including a local centre.

Delyse Bailey, Senior Area Manager (Cheshire and Warrington) for the HCA, has written to Appleton Ward councillors to say:
“The land in question is 20 hectare off Blackcap/Dipping Brook Road. Please find enclosed a development statement which outlines the sites development potential. This has also been submitted to the Council.
It is intended to hold a public consultation event at Appleton Parish Hall on 19th September and leaflets/posters will be distributed shortly and I will email you a leaflet in advance of distribution. It is intended to submit an outline planning application around November 2016.
I am happy to talk you through the proposals ahead of the consultation event if you have dates in mind.”
Due to its proximity to the village of Appleton Thorn, residents are encouraged to find out more, including attendance at the public consultation on Monday (19th September).
I believe that this development will seriously compromise the countryside around Appleton, Stretton and Appleton Thorn. the A49 and Stretton Road are bottlenecks to the M56 in rush hour. It will increase traffic through Appleton Torn Village as people will try and shortcut from the M6 Just 20A. It will cause traffic issues outside the local school in Appleton Thorn and St Matthews.
I seriously consider the planning decisions made by Warrington Council. It appears to be fuelled by how much revenue they can generate from council tax.
