We have our NDP!

The referendum on the Appleton Thorn Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) has overwhelmingly voted in favour of its adoption.

The count was held shortly after the close of the poll at 10pm, in the Appleton Thorn Village Hall. Out of a total eligible voting population of 1,021, those voting “Yes” totalled 347 whilst only 15 voted “No”.

A turnout of 35.4% was said by the electoral officials to be excellent for this type of poll and was similar to that expected for local Council elections. As a comparison the last Cheshire Police Commissioner election only attracted a 17% turnout.

The result means that the NDP will be approved and adopted by Warrington Borough Council and form part of the planning assessment mechanism.
