CARE: Campaign Against Ruining our Environment – Public Meeting 1

An ad hoc group of villagers has been formed to contest the proposed development by Bloor Homes of up to 90 houses on the central field in the village.

They have called a Public Meeting  at Appleton Thorn Village Hall on Thursday 31st July  at 7:30pm.

Please do not confuse this with Bloor Homes’ second ‘public consultation’ event that is also being held at the Village Hall, but on Monday afternoon.

CARE have put their own leaflet through village residents’ doors this week, in which they say:

“Bloor Homes, one of the largest building groups in the UK are proposing to build up to ninety houses on the field opposite Appleton Thorn Village Hall.

“Bloor Homes have commissioned Lexington Communications, who boast that they are the UK’s leading independent public affairs and communications agency, to conduct a PR operation to win villagers over to the idea of developing the field. They  held a ‘public consultation event’ at Appleton parish Hall on 16th June and now want villagers to join a ‘Design Working group’.

“A second event is being held on Monday 28th July at the Village Hall 2:00pm – 7:00pm where they will unveil their plans.

“We have formed an ad hoc group of villagers to contest the proposed development and are organising a meeting for concerned villagers at the Village Hall on Thursday 31st July at 7:30pm.

“We would ask you to:

  • Attend the 28th July event if you wish to see the Bloor plans – but don’t join their ‘Design Working Group’ unless you really want houses built on the village field
  • Make your feelings known and share your concerns. If you don’t – they will take it that you are happy with the plans
  • Come along to our meeting and discuss the Bloor Homes plans so that we can organise a co-ordinated response.”

Thank you for putting this important event on the village portal. The CARE team wishes to hear everyone’s thoughts on this proposed Bloor development on this field which is the focal point of the village. Our view is that this field must be developed as a green space which could have play areas, allotments, mini sports areas, paths for strolling around, benches- all ideas welcome! If developed our village will just become another satellite urban sprawl, south of Warrington.

COME TO THE MEETING EARLY AND VOICE YOUR OPINIONS- THEN WE CAN PUT TOGETHER A CO-ORDINATED RESPONSE TO SHARE WITH BLOOR AND WBC!
