Caolán Mc Laughlin – Village Hall Sat 22nd March

Caolan McLaughlin

Hot on the heels of St.Patrick’s Day, villagehallmusic is proud to present Caolán Mc Laughlin. He’s a bright young rising star of the Irish music scene, destined for great things. As well as being a solo entertainer he is in great demand as a sideman for some of Ireland’s major recording artists. He has played in the Bronágh Gallagher Band (from The Commitments and cult classic Pulp Fiction) as well as dropping in and out of many other ensembles including the various Irish folk groups of his renowned father, Denis Mc Laughlin and the wider family.

He helped write the Bronágh Gallagher album, and has performed with this band on Irish TV shows such as The Late Late Show, Other Voices and The Saturday Night Show; supported bands such as The Frames and Tired Pony (Gary Lightbody’s side project), and performed at festivals such as Electric Picnic and Westport and has just completed a headline tour and sold out performances supporting Glen Hansard.

In his solo show he likes to combine all of his musical talents using mainly keys/piano and guitar with vocal but also features bodhrán (Irish Drum) and occasionally whistle.

So far this year Caolán has toured Germany and Holland, as well as playing to enthusiastic home crowds in Ireland, including his home town of Derry. His sets are varied affairs and usually include traditional Irish music, classic Blues & Roots as well as his own contemporary compositions.

On the night he will be supported/aided and abetted by Pete Price and possibly a friend or two. Combine the music and the award-winning beers at the Village Hall and you couldn’t really want for much else!
